After one of the worst natural disasters in Texas history, the snowmageddon of 2021, with massive electricity & water outages, Texas Governor Greg Abbott tried to shift his own responsibility for the debacle. First trying to blame the Green New Deal, which hasn’t even been adopted. Then he tried to blame wind turbines, which is actually only 13% of Texas energy source. Finally, he has tried to blame the ERCOT board. But did you know that the Public Utility Commission, which regulates ERCOT, was appointed by Abbott, himself? He knew all about our power grid not being winterized. He just desperately needed a scapegoat.
As story after story about the Coronavirus spilled into my life, at first I was slightly in denial. It couldn’t be that bad, could it? Then, like dominos, one-by-one, Austin events got cancelled: Rodeo Austin, Willie Nelson's concert, the Kite Festival, … and then… SXSW. SXSW!!! What? Wow, that one hit home.
NAIFA-Texas sent two of their members to six different Texas towns to meet with Law Makers for a two week stretch. They asked us to come up with concepts to give the road show event more appeal on social media.
Ranch House Recovery is a residential extended living site where young men recovering from addiction learn life skills and life management for sober living.
Simple Promise Farms is a nonprofit, animal rescue and organic farm where the residents of the program for caring for the farm and the animals. Community events will also be hosted on the site, and organic products will be made there as well.
This is an ongoing project near and dear to my heart. In our current #MeToo culture, it’s imperative that women help uplift, support, and sustain each other. With enlightened men supporting women initiatives as well.
