David Bonner - Conceptual Continuity
david@graphicgranola.com

Mr. Bonner is Graphic Granola's copywriter-in-residence, and also consults as a canned music expert for commercials and whatnot. He is a graduate of the same university attended by Pat Boone and Tex Watson.

He has experienced corporate marketing gigs in the disparate industries of home fashions, soft beverages, and tobacciana -- eventually drifting into the business of stringing words together for other people. He tends to advocate a "free market" approach to commercial copywriting, which describes actual features and benefits of products and services, with the intention of providing the necessary information for truly rational consumer decision-making. In this regard, he was heavily influenced by Ernest Shackleton (author of the best classified ad ever written). As for non-commercial copy, while there is little or no market factor involved, the basic approach is the same: Describe!

As a "real" writer, Bonner's book Revolutionizing Children's Records -- a surprisingly readable history of an old-timey children's record company -- was published in 2007 by Scarecrow Press. He has also contributed modest research and visuals to a combination book/multi-CD boxed set entitled The Weavers: Goodnight Irene (Bear Family Records, BCD 15930), which locals can sometimes find in stock at Waterloo Records.

When not being exploited by Graphic Granola, Mr. Bonner has been known to do some mail-order moonlighting, among other things.
